Higher education institutions create the European Degree Supplement following the standards agreed by the Commission, the Council of Europe and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Obtaining a European sample by a student is stipulated by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 943 dated 16.10.2009.
The European Supplement is an important tool in the European Higher Education Area, which ensures that graduates are recognised for their degrees by higher education institutions, government authorities and employers both at home and abroad.
The Supplement with a sample certificate of a European degree is one of the documents that are introduced in Ukrainian universities as part of the Bologna process.
Graduates are entitled to receive the European Degree Supplement automatically, free of charge and in any of the major European languages.
The European Degree Supplement offers students degrees and study programs that are easier to compare across Europe. It also provides a detailed description of the conducted researches and the skills acquired for the course.
The Supplement can also make it easier for holders to access jobs and new study opportunities abroad, promoting the recognition of academic qualifications on an international level by both higher education institutions and employers.
In addition, it increases the recognition of academic degrees offered by higher education institutions and improves the visibility among their colleagues and employers. The Supplement also helps reduce the administrative burden on many higher education institutions and helps safeguard their institutional autonomy by creating a common framework for the recognition of academic degrees.
